White Scrim
Finished Project

Process

I started out with creating a grid on the original image which was used to cartoon out the image on the paper floor.
First I masked off for the yellow, which I sprayed on. Unfortunately, the yellow leaked around some of the edges, which I mitigated with a few thin white layers just where it leaked. The paint was considerably thinned, so I had to be careful around the edges so that it didn't start to bleed. Because the scrim was white, I used that to my advantage for the highlights and any lighter tones. Layering the thinned paint meant I didn't have to mix anything with white, except for some skin tones. Smooth transitions and gradations were difficult, but were achieved with lots of water, careful paint application, and scrubbing with a brush.
